KITCHEN

Image
While growing up, an ideal kitchen to me was a small place at the backyard of every house where you have stones for pots to sit, filled with ashes and charcoal. In a traditional African setting a kitchen is a place where food gets done and children are not allowed to play around in there.   Subsequently, I learnt that you can actually have a kitchen in the main house where you have just a or sink to wash in, kerosene or gas stove and a small plastic basket where the plates, spoons and pot are kept. There was no room for kids in the kitchen. Fortunately for me, learning about kitchen design and decorations, I found out that kitchen should   be a lot more interesting than I grew up with. With contemporary designs, you can actually make your kitchen in such a way that you can gather with everyone in the houuse casually or children writing their assignments while u cook   and have fun while cooking. It’s possible to have a child-friendly kitchen. A modern kitchen is lavis

Where would we be without light? Our homes would remain dark from dusk to dawn, with the exception of candle, (Thanks to PHCN) lol. Good lighting can make the difference between a dull, bland room and one that is sparkling with life. Think about a lighting scheme before you start to decorate a room. Where is the furniture to go? You can install floor sockets underneath tables or free-standing furniture, avoiding ugly and dangerous trailing cords. How will you be using the room: is it primarily for use during the day or at night? For study or entertaining? The most important element of good lighting is the quality of light; its colour, direction, and intensity. Your aim when lighting your home, should be to use light to enhance your surroundings, generate the correct lighting levels for the tasks performed, create the correct mood for each area, and above all appreciate the important contribution that lighting can make to your home. Following our previous discussion on colours, its effect on the atmosphere and feelings. Here are few tips to help you decorate that “your very very personal tiny room” (lol) BLINDS   Roller blinds are an excellent alternative to curtains. They can be produced in endless variations. The only thing to consider is that the fabric should not be too thin and light in order to avoid drooping and ensure they remain firm when opening and closing. With opaque fabrics or lined blackout material, complete darkness can be achieved, whilst semi-transparent decorative material can create a charming look with different light effects. Linear Roman blinds or plain roller blinds are perfect for pure, modern architecture, and are enough to provide a screen against excess light or prying eyes. Significantly more lush is a decorative style enhanced with colour-coordinated curtains. The roller blind is then simply pulled down for darkness, whilst the curtains remain in their positions a
